The famous “Devil’s Cave” is located right beneath the walls of the castle and it gave birth to many legends. It led from the castle to the outside so that the King or Castellano could flee in case of seizure of the castle.

In the bottom of the cave there were two forks: one leading to the cemetery and the other was a precipice, so either you knew which way to go or you died.

The cave was used during World War II as a refuge by the citizens of Rocca d’Arce and the displaced persons from neighbouring countries.
