The Feast of Sant’Anna and the Serving of Fried Pizza in Ronciglione
Jul 22 - Jul 23
22/23 July 2018 – Sant’Anna, or St. Anne, was the mother of Mary, and therefore the grandmother of Jesus, all of which makes her feast one of the most popular religious celebrations in numerous Italian towns, including Ronciglione, an historic burgh set amidst the forests of beech, chestnut and oak in the verdant Tuscia area. Tourism, farming and crafts production are the cornerstones of the town’s economy.
The Feast of Sant’Anna provides an ideal occasion to stroll through the charming medieval villager, admiring its handsome residential palazzos from the Renaissance, plus the famed stuccos that adorn the façades of its most important structures from centuries past. An outdoor market is held in the Sant’Anna quarter, featuring antiquities marked by the passing of time, together with exhibits of ceramics, decorated glass, photographs and sculptures.
The traditional fried pizza is served alongside other local delicacies, including an assortment of cheeses, such as the famous Giuncata variety, plus a range of different types of fried pizzas.
Making the evenings all the more enjoyably are musical performances.
Ronciglione is an ideal vacation destination, thanks to its view of Lake Vico, its unspoiled natural surroundings and the enchantment of hiking through the Cimina Forest.
