Amphitheatre Festival of Albano Laziale

From July 27th to August 15th is the season of music and performances in a unique setting, that of the ancient Roman amphitheatre of Albano Laziale, one of the most unique villages of the Castelli Romani. Thanks to the fact that Albano was the seat of the Partica Legion to protect the Emperor Septimius Severus, Albano is a particular example of Roman engineering with the Cisterns, the amphitheatre and many other ruins.
In summer, the amphitheatre is the setting for a particular event that ranges from classical to popular music including theatre.
To perform in the 2018 edition there are Ascanio Celestini, Moni Ovadia, the multi-award winning musical Nunsense – Le amiche di Maria, Blas Roca Rey with Monica Rogledi, and as grand finale – Giobbe Covatta.
The season opens on July 27 with the opera Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi, produced by Europa Musica and starring Paola Di Gregorio, Antonio Interisano, Domenico Balzani, Anastasia Pirogova directed by Gianmaria Romagnoli.
For popular music, do not miss the show by Gino Paoli and Danilo Rea on July 28th with the show Due come noi che … a concert for voice and piano.
The grand ballet, the Sleeping Beauty on music by Tchaikovsky, produced by the Compagnia Almatanz, with choreography by Luigi Martelletta, opens on the 29th July.
