The Fortress of Trevignano Romano

The Trevignano Romano fortress is situated on a steep hill of volcanic tuff partially defense course by the overhanging slopes, just like the castle of Bracciano.

La Rocca probably dates back to the thirteenth century and had seen several changes of ownership until the end of the fourteenth century when it came into the hands of the Orsini who took possession of the whole territory of the lake.

In the sixteenth century, Gian Giordano Orsini had to dismantle the fortress that had been abandoned and used sporadically in different ways in the following centuries and so left to deteriorate slowly.
