On top of the hill it is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Valley del Salto. The site is enclosed by a stretch of the fourth century BC cyclopean walls that surround the area of ​​the Acropolis with the sacred temple of Nersia, the capital of the “Res publica Aequiculorum” (people of the Equi) of which Virgil speaks in the Aeneid .

The Romans assigned Nersia to “Gens Fabia” and raised it to “municipium”, with the forum, the remains of the baths and other public buildings.
