Tastings, live music, stands and guided tours with a single, great ‘protagonist’: the porcino mushroom, which in this area in autumn grows not just in abundance but also is of excellent quality.

Marcetelli, a distinctive village perched on a rocky spur, opens its doors for the festival dedicated to the “Suillus” already appreciated by the Ancient Romans.

From 9 am to late evening many entertainments await visitors for one of the most famous events in the province of Rieti synonymous with good food and fun, with an eye always attentive to tradition and local excellence, plus musical entertainment in the form of folk songs.

The best local products range from jam to extra virgin olive oil, through cheese and liqueurs. The lunch tastings include tasty recipes based on porcini mushrooms, bruschetta, fettuccine and bocconcini, to be combined with local grilled meats and a glass of good red wine.

For those who want to discover the area you can attend the screening of video documentaries on the village and the “circle” and follow guided tours with a shuttle bus service in one of the most beautiful and unspoiled areas of the Lazio region near the Lake of Salto. A real paradise for those who love being outdoors.

The Porcino Mushroom Festival is organized by the Pro Loco Tourist Association under the patronage of the Municipality of Marcetelli, of the VII Salto Cicolano Mountain Community and of the Monte Navegna Monte Cervia Nature Reserve.
