The Velletri Carnival tells the story of the rural origins of the city. The celebrations for the holidays include a series of events and functions that represent an example of the inhabitants getting together.

In recent years, the Carnival has taken the name of Veliterno Carnival of the People taking back the spirit of the origins. In fact, in 1931, when Velletri was still a village, a parade of agricultural wagons, made up of tools for working the land, took place. The tradition of the past has now become an event of real entertainment for everyone.

During the Carnival period the allegorical wagons are engaged in 4 shows organized with enthusiasm. Parallel to the parades of the allegorical floats, there is the Children’s Day and the Grandparents’ Day with jugglers, acrobats, trampoliners that animate the parties with live street music.

The typical mask of Velletri is Gurgumiello, the “King of Carnival” that is burned in the square at the end of the event.
