The Pasquella is a very heartfelt folk tradition and takes place on January 5, the twelfth night after Christmas. People become ‘beggars’ representing the dead returned to earth to rescue the living. The beggars go from house to house singing a lullaby, the “Pasquella”, with which they wish prosperity for the new year and ask for the gift from the land.
