This Fettuccine festival recalls the name of the old city of Trebula Mutuesca, the Sabine-Roman city that had its most prosperous period in the first century BC. It is made today following a recipe handed down orally for centuries.
Its name is perhaps from ‘trabes’, “house”, and in the fourth century BC a sanctuary was dedicated here to the goddess Feronia around which an urban centre formed.
