Beans of Sutri

The Sutri bean is called ‘the Queen Bean’ and is known for its taste and its digestibility. Legend has it that this ‘humble bean’ was able to relieve the pain of a gout attack for the famous emperor Charlemagne.  

The Living Nativity of Sutri

The living nativity scene takes place within the Archaeological Park, in the necropolis near the amphitheatre. It welcomes thousands of visitors each year for its special atmosphere. The ancient tombs of Etruscan-Roman era come to life for a day with costumed characters involving visitors in a unique experience.

Festival of beans

The festival of beans was created to promote the local product ‘par excellence’ and is repeated the first two weekends of September. During the festival there are allegorical parades, dancing and good music with the distribution of beans cooked outdoors and served in traditional earthenware bowls.
