I arrive early in Marano Equo on a sunny Saturday morning and, to my surprise, in the main square I find three bars a short distance from each other. I really didn't know what to choose, but a bar had all the tables in the sun and so I choose Bar La Maina, the one inside the square with the tables under the trees.
If one thinks of Arcinazzo Romano, the Altipiani (Highlands) immediately come to mind which in the 80s were at the center of the social life of the capital Rome: in the summer everyone came here to spend days in the cool of this 'little Switzerland'.

When I arrived in Cineto Romano I had great expectations. During my wanderings in the Aniene Valley in search of the Town Ambassadors of its villages, everyone had always told me about Cineto Romano.
It is impossible not to notice Sambuci entering the Aniene Valley from the Rome side, the four towers of the fortress still inspire fear but hide the sweetness of the Renaissance villa and the Italian garden.
You can recognize Ciciliano from a distance. The towers of the castle still seem to hide lookouts that spy on you. The austere appearance of the Theodoli fortress made the joyful reality even more surprising to me.
Many knew Ronciglione for its carnival (second only to that of Viareggio), someone else who was passionate about horses knew the Palio di San Bartolomeo (with loose horses) but today everyone knows it for being the birthplace of Marco Mengoni and for being proclaimed the Borgo dei Borghi (Village of the villages) 2023.
