In the area near Bomarzo during the Etruscan period there were several Etruscan settlements that were connected by the important Ferentiensis Way (which starts from Ferentum and reaches Falerii Novi).
Corviano is one of these and, as is customary among the Etruscans, it was located on a plateau bordered by overhangs and placed at the intersection of two waterways.
You can recognize sections of Etruscan walls (characterized by large blocks with joints) and Roman, a certain number of cave dwellings.
You can also see the remains of a medieval castle partly built right above the walls. The news about this manor are few but for sure in 1278 it belonged to the Orsini of Pope Nicholas III and was then destroyed by Viterbo in 1304.
A necropolis and many pestarole have been discovered, pairs of dug tanks that were used for the pressing of the must and other emergencies still to be understood.
