Alvito. St. Nicholas Convent

Alvito. St. Nicholas Convent

St. Nicholas convent of Alvito was built around 1516, the Benedictine monastery of St. Nicholas.

It has been for centuries an important religious centre, also known as the "little Montecassino".

In fact, in 1720 Pope Clement XIV, who had spent here a year here as a novitiate, enriched it with numerous works of art.

The building is late baroque Roman style with an interesting cloister.

Today the monastery is a school.
