Affile. Pertuso caves

Affile. Pertuso caves

With the nearby municipality of Roiate, Affile shares a real geological peculiarity: the Pertuso caves which were excavated by the Carpine stream. The caves are about 200 meters long and in the summer the route is partly dry, while in the winter the flow can be very violent, and you need a boat to discover the lake.

The caves were discovered for the first time in 1849 by F. Gori and inside you can see the remains of two small dams that were probably built to feed a mill.
