Ernica Etnica Festival is a national festival of Italian popular music, which takes place in the beautiful scenery of the historic centre of Veroli.

Veroli one of the most ancient and important centers of Ciociaria that was built on an acropolis surrounded by Cyclopean walls.

In addition to the famous Santa Salome Basilica with the Scala Santa, Veroli has the incredible Cistercian Abbey of Casamari.

Ernica Etnica takes its name from the Ernici mountains and was created to promote the traditions of Italian folk music, making it coexist with the culture of the places. It is a very popular and much sought-after music event that people come to listen and dance in the square at an intense and growing pace.

The festival touches the traditions and culture of Ciociaria and the territories it hosts. There are many groups of regions and different cultural areas participating in the r.

In the 3 evening concerts each year they alternate between folk music of southern Italy and groups from the province. Since 2017 a prize has been set up dedicated to the Masters of the folk tradition.

There are numerous singer composer guests in the genre of Italian popular music that over the years have followed one another on the stage of Ernica Etnica. Recall: Eugenio Bennato, Simone Cristicchi, Peppe Servillo and Ambrogio Sparagna (every year), Tamburellisti di Torrepaduli, The Ensemble of La Notte della Taranta, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Alicanto.

Every year the square is packed with thousands of fans of folk music who dance and participate in pizzica, saltarello, tarantella and ballarella.

During the 3 days of Ernica Etnica the civic museum is open, the municipal building with the criptoportico (covered walkway) of IV century BC and other monuments.

The rich participation of quality music groups is combined with the leisures of discovering artisanal workshops. In fact, during the 3 days of Ernica Etnica, a craft market is open to luthiers or dealers of ethnic musical instruments and a market for leather and leather artisans.

Obviously, the days of celebration are accompanied by the traditional Ciociarian cuisine and the Verolana donut.
