In a building at the foot of the castle of Isola del Liri right at the beginning of Lungo-Liri is an ancient SOMS sign (Società Operaia del Mutuo Soccorso) dating back to the foundation year of 1862.
The sign is emblematic of the spirit that lived in this heart of the industrial revolution in South-central Italy.
SOMS Società Operaia del Mutuo Soccorso (‘Workers' society of Mutual Assistance) is still active and has moved its headquarters to the San Francesco complex.
