Nature Reserve of Gattaceca and Barco wood in Mentana is a protected natural area between the municipalities of Mentana, Monterotondo and Sant'Angelo Romano characterized by various examples of karst phenomena such as caves and sinkholes, and the famous Well of Merro.
This feature is a funnel-shaped chasm that ends with a deep pool over 392 m. This makes the Well of Merro the deepest flooded sinkhole in the world.
