Casalvieri. The Way of St. Benedict

Casalvieri. The Way of St. Benedict

Casalvieri is crossed by one of the paths of the Way of Saint Benedict that connects Norcia, the birthplace of the saint, with Montecassino passing through Subiaco.

Along the Way of St. Benedict had founded communities and monasteries from which the reconstruction had started of a socio-economic fabric of the countryside after the fall of the Roman Empire.

Also in Casalvieri, in the Plauto district, there was an ancient monastery of which today only some ruins remain among the vegetation.

For a long stretch the path of Saint Benedict follows the Tracciolino and is one of the most inspiring and rich parts of flora and fauna.
