The sea of ​​Santa Marinella is characterized by a unique clarity which over the years has protected the seabed rich in a particular Mediterranean flora and fauna especially in the Pierucci Wall which is almost a km long.

Here you can find rocks and coves where many species of fish have their dens while in Punta della Vipera you can see the ruins of an ancient complex of tanks for fish farming with a large murenaio.

The complex is among the largest in the Mediterranean and is made up of a set of communicating rectangular pools around a circular central pond.

It is a paradise for diving photographers who can also enjoy the remains of wrecks such as that of Liburna, at 38 meters deep, a cable laying ship sunk about thirty years ago to prevent trawling that ruins the seabed.

Given the shallow depth of the sea, diving can also be done in apnea (holding the breath). While for those wishing to learn, in Santa Marinella there is also a centre with a school for divers.

The coast of Santa Marinella and in particular Punta Banzai is one of the places most appreciated by wave surfers for the quality of the waves that are created.

It is one of the few places near Rome where surfers from all over Europe meet and national and international competitions are held.

A surf school was started in 2002 and Italy Surf Expo takes place in Santa Severa, an international event thanks to which Italy hosted a stage of the World Challenger Series of Stand Up Paddle.

The reef runs right and left with small and large swells from SE, SW, W and NW directions even with a strong sea wind.

The distance between the rocky beaches north of Santa Marinella and the sandy beaches south of Santa Teresa includes 24 km of coastline.

Sandy beaches run along one of the clearest seas north of Rome: for this reason it is called 'the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea' and is much loved.

The beaches are equipped with deckchairs, umbrellas and reception services and the stretch of beach in the Majorca Park is characterized by terraced-type stilts that have a characteristic pier ouy towards the sea.

On these piers small boats are moored and the complex appears very characteristic and picturesque to the point that it is a typical representation of Santa Marinella.

It enjoys a particularly pleasant climate due to the geographical position and the protection of the Tolfa Mountains which stop the cold winds from the north and thus prolong the pleasure of the bathing season.

Sabaudia boasts of having some of the best sailing and navigation schools on the Lazio coast, whether you want to learn to sail or take a boat ride with an instructor.

Lovers of water sports from all over Lazio come in search of the perfect wave on the beaches of Sabaudia to practice surfing and kitesurfing all year round.

The latter sport is very popular due to the favorable winds that accompany the sails of sportsmen to glide gently on the waves of the Pontine beaches.

This canal is not navigable near Torre Paola between Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo.

The Torre Paola canal dates back to Roman times and connects Lake Sabaudia with the sea and can be reached along the seafront road.
