Fondi. South Francigena way

Fondi is also crossed by the way of the South Francigena way.

It was used since the Middle Ages by pilgrims heading to the Holy Land or from the south of Italy to reached the tomb of St. Peter in Rome.

The way has become a route travelled by tourists on foot and in many parts of this route it coincides with the original route of the Appia Antica.
