December 7th is the opening day at La Scala in Milan and in Anagni

There are some special days dedicated to shows that become famous in the world. In Italy, the day of St Ambrose - Sant’’Ambrogio is the day of the opening of the opera season at La Scala in Milan with a glamorous event that attracts VIPs from all over the world.

This year, we in Alta Ciociaria also had our inauguration with a theatrical show at Casa Barnekow, in the historic center of beautiful Anagni.

The show “L’asso di coppe (Ace of cups)” by the Gl Mannecut company of Boville Ernica, was staged for the delight and enjoyment of the few people who filled the room.

The show written by Lorenzo and Selene Genovese is a true Ciociaran comedy that depicts life in a village bar, where people gather to play cards and gossip about life in the town.

Anagni,

The ace of cups, in the Ciociaro dialect, is the one who knows everything, who thinks he is better than the others but who, in the end, is just a little craftier. Then there was the classic lazy man submissive to an energetic woman who runs the whole family on her own, and who hides under the table to escape her wrath.

The laughter filled the room so much that at a certain point even the actors had trouble holding back their laughter, perhaps also thanks to the proximity between the audience and the actors.

The scene with the lady with the stroller who fills a child with attention was incredible, in which only at the end it is discovered that this child is actually a puppy.

After the show everyone went to dinner at the Barnekow pizzeria on the ground floor for comments on the evening and to let go of the adrenaline of the show.

Well done everyone! I'm waiting for the new show in March that they are already rehearsing but which they didn't want to give me any previews of.

Anagni is splendid even on cold winter nights and the historic center has something magical. We didn’t have the fame of Milan, but in the end our show was unique, and Anagni also had its St Ambrose.
