Napoli to Colleferro

One night in May in Colleferro, but maybe we were in Naples

Put on 'Na sera 'e maggio' with Giorgio Ginolfi and his musician friends from the Amici per la Solidarietà Association at the Colleferro Auditorium, and suddenly you feel like you're in Naples.

Perhaps it was because the show was titled 'Napoli prima e dopo' (Naples before and after), perhaps it was because of the powerful joy the music exuded, perhaps the musicians and singers simply made everyone in the audience feel Neapolitan.

Giorgio and his friends have been organizing these charity shows for 23 years, thanks above all to the great professionalism of his daughter Roberta, who is now a producer, and I remember her first steps on stage. In fact, this year Giorgio wanted to pay homage to Ezio Vittori, who introduced him to the world of the guitar while Giorgio introduced him to the world of Neapolitan song.

A great emotion, so many memories chasing each other in my heart as I tried to remember all the words to the Neapolitan songs, I used to hum constantly with Ezio.

The most melancholic, but with a creative and regenerative melancholy, was "Na sera 'e maggio" (On May Evening), written by Roberto Murolo and sung by Luis Navarro, a young friend of Giorgio's who had accompanied him on stage since he was a child. Luis's style is different today, but his interpretation was masterful.

Roberto Murolo's words resonated like poetry, but I felt them within me, like the years I've lived, and the effort put into trying to keep our promises, and not just those of love.

Quanno se dice "sí!"

Keep it in mind

Nun s'ha da fá murí

A huge thank you to Maestro Spallotta and the two voices of Maria Vittoria Necci and Salvo Miraglia who introduced us to each song. I'd like to mention everyone, but I'll limit myself to two dear friends who are in my heart: the great Francesca Bordin and the vibrant Elisabetta Pesoli. Two different interpretations and two different approaches to life, but two people with whom I have lovingly shared part of my journey in Colleferro.

It seems that the upcoming elections in Colleferro are pushing Mayor Pierluigi Sanna to other shores, perhaps to seek other candidacies in other cities like Naples or on other stages. His speech, greeting Giorgio and paying homage to Neapolitan culture, was that of a master of the stage.

Dear Pierluigi Sanna (not to be confused with Pierluigi Ginolfi or even my brother Pierluigi), you have captivated us with your words, and we will follow you on future stages!

Thanks to the Maestros: Nicoletta Evangelista on piano, Gianluigi Farina on keyboards, Francesco Ruggero on mandolin, Lorenzo Giacomino on violin, Bruno Stella on bass, Umberto Pantano on drums and percussion, and Stefano Spallota on guitar, arrangements, and backing vocals.

And thanks to the singers Giorgio Ginolfi, Francesca Bordin, Elisabetta Pesoli, Maria Chiara Fontana, Nicoletta Evangelista, and Luis Navarro.

A May Evening by Roberto Murolo

When you come on a date

you look at the sea, look at the leaves,

if I talk to you, you don't answer

you are distracted like who knows what.

I keep you in my heart,

I'm always in love,

but you, instead, are thinking of someone else

and you're forgetting about me.

When one says yes, keep it in mind,

a heart that loves must not be let die.

You said yes to me on a May evening

and now you have the courage to leave me!

These eyes of yours are not sincere

like when you met me,

like when you told me:

"I love only you."

And, trembling, you swore to me,

with one hand on the heart:

"The first love is not to be forgotten".

Now you are forgetting about me.

When one says yes, keep it in mind,

a heart that loves must not be let die.

You said yes to me on a May evening

and now you have the courage to leave me!

...........

...........

You said yes to me on a May evening

and now you have the courage to leave me!
