Fiuggi. Piazza Trento and Trieste

Fiuggi. Piazza Trento and Trieste

The square was originally called Olmo square after the name of the door giving one of the entrances to the village. A careful eye can still recognize the remains of towers and the original walls of the castle in the buildings.

Outside the door was a small pond and the area was destined for the local market.

In 2004 a careful architectural work by architect Baldassarre reconstructed the original shape of the square with a series of signs and graphic symbols designed in light and dark stone paving.

It is possible to recognize the sign of the original gate of the castle, the cistern built in the eighteenth century to collect the water, and sculptures on stones that reflect the leaves of elm.
