The Governor's Palace of Vico nel Lazio dates back to 1150 and was built by a person of wealth because it had an Altana, a viewing tower that denoted a 'high-grade' family.
The building incorporates a particular triangular tower with an eccentric sharp angle.
It is surely one of the most important buildings as a witness of the past of Vico nel Lazio.
The final construction dates back to the Middle Ages, that is to say, from the 13th to the 14th century.
Some beautiful mullioned windows are visible with a style that recalls the different building epochs, some with arches all curved, others in a rectangular shape and others with Gothic-Romanesque arch.
Later on, it was the governor's residence on account of the Colonna family.
It was the seat of the commune and now houses a museum, seminar room and library.
